The booklet read Sicily Beyond Cliches: Innovation. The Venue was at Fade Street Social Club. The Wine was MANDRAROSSA.
Love the graphic. MANDRAROSSA is born from a varied geography that owes a lot to how close it is to Africa and to the varied soils of its origin in South Western Sicily.
The region is famed for its white Grillo (crisp citrus, grapefruit and basil) and its red Nero d’Avola (black cherry, plum and mulberry). Each is fabulous from MANDRAROSSA.
The tasting was hosted by Mackenway Distributors – one of Ireland’s shining lights. Our presenter, Stephen Moccia from MANDRAROSSA, brought us through the fabulous terroir and grapes of the region and introduced all the varied nuances associated with each as they are expressed through his wines. Now I really want to visit!!
Innovation? how about these detachable neckers letting us know what to expect. Or try the MANDRAROSSA Petit Verdot, or the Fiano/Chenin Blanc blend, or the Merlot/Alicante Bouschet … it goes on!
When the sun shines, though, drink like the locals and grab some gorgeous red Frappato or crisp white Zibibbo. Sicily through the eyes of MANDRAROSSA is an exploration worth the adventure. Really enjoyed this tasting.
