Do we need Turkey and Ham when we have one of the finest selections of wines available – anywhere! Well, maybe we do … but ..
O’Briens have been bringing out a free booklet for a while now. No surprise that it’s called ‘O’Briens WINE’. Over the past year it has become more sophisticated and chock full of stories. It doesn’t treat its readers as if all they need to know are grape and price! The Christmas edition is fabulous. Everything from (wine) Essentials for Christmas, Christmas with our Winemakers and Unique Wines for a Unique Time of Year are discussed – In Easy to Understand DETAIL! Here’s a few from the mag:

Top Value Party Wise Wines
Wild Flower Pinot Grigio and Wildflower Pinot Noir from Romania (€8.95 for Dec) honest, refreshing and accurate to a fault.
For the Feast
If its a starter then a light Sauvignon Blanc or Albarino will do fine. If it’s the big mix of Turkey and all the trims than go for something richer – Can’t go wrong with the white Chateau Fuissé Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru
(€26.95) matched with the exquisite red Leyda Pinot Noir Las Brisas
(€14.95). Clearly I like my pinot noir! Read through the mag to see more choice …..
Hidden in the list is a dessert wine that I reckon is one the Most Complete Wines on Sale Anywhere! Its the Disznoko Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos 2005. The best tends to cost (a bit) and this is an impressive €60.00 for the traditional 500ml bottle. The extreme depths of sensational flavours that this wine has sends your taste buds swimming into overdrive. Sparkles? Bollinger Special Cuvee at €55 is super value. The Beaumont des Crayeres is top notch and drinks fabulously at €29.95 Loads of options!
Just as well then there are loads of O’Briens!!
