GOOD NEWS. Santa Rita, Ireland’s favourite wine brand, has added to its stable of fabulous labels.
We can now shop for a Reserva Medalla Real Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Syrah. To date I have only tried the Sauvignon and the Cabernet. Each is brilliant with the Sauvignon Blanc edging it for me as an outstanding wine.
The Press Release was fabulous:
The Medalla Real Reserva tier comprises classic grape varieties grown in terroirs best suited to each variety. The flagship is the Maipo Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Found at the foothills of the Andes Mountain, this region is where the Santa Rita Hacienda and winery are found. It is now world renowned for producing excellent quality Cabernet. The Sauvignon Blanc is grown in Casablanca, Chile’s first cool climate region. The vineyards are close to the ocean which brings morning fog and cool breezes meaning the grapes retain their delicate aromas and crisp acidity which is so important in making aromatic Sauvignon Blanc. The Limarí Valley, one of the northernmost wine-growing regions in Chile is the area from which grapes for the Reserva Chardonnay and Syrah are sourced. The proximity to the Pacific Ocean and low-lying coastal mountains strongly affects the climate of this area which brings an elegance and minerality to wines from this region. The Medalla Real Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc will be available from SuperValu at the beginning of August with an RRP of €16.00. The Chardonnay and Syrah are available in Dunnes Stores and Tesco. Tesco also stocks the Cabernet Sauvignon
